Don't Repress Your Feelings

My BCG colleagues and I have been trying to offer suggestions to help lawyers get through the current recession. For some tips that we have all missed, here is my latest post on BCG's Lateral Attorney Report.

That's great advice about not repressing feelings, so important not to forget ... I have a question about the current market and whether it's advisable to begin a lateral job search ... I currently work for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have a good deal of litigation experience, and some good trial experience ... before the "downturn" I was poised to begin a search and make the jump to a medium to large size firm, but now am reluctant to even bother given the market, and the first-in-first-out fear. Thoughts? Is it wise to hold off on the search until the economy and market improve?
In general, the best time to pursue this switch is when you are ready. Even thought the market is slow right now, I'm now sure you lose anything by getting your name in front of potential employers. I'd be happy to discuss this with you further if you like. Just contact me at seckler@bcgsearch.com and let me know a good time to reach you.
